The Next Semester is committed to accessible community-based educational programming as well as consultancy and advocacy to help all students work well and have fun! We partner with local schools, libraries, and community organizations to offer Chess and Robotics enrichment courses, in addition to running community classes at The Maplewood Outside School. Additionally, I bring my years of experience as an educator, special educator, and collegiate academic adviser to help support families and students through pivotal educational transitions consulting on both IEP/504 processes and college admissions prep. Through private scholarships, community-based partnerships, and competitive pricing, we strive to make our services accessible for all students.

The Learning Lab - Classes & Services

The Learning Lab is a growing collection of community-based educational programs, beginning with our inaugeral program “SOMA Chess Club”. Launched in our home community of Maplewood & South Orange, New Jersey in Fall 2021, our chess classes are held at local venues and schools within South Orange/Maplewood. We look forward to the continued growth of current programming and the addition of future community education initiatives in the coming year!

The Next Semester Shop

I started our Next Semester shop inspired by a guiding philosophy that our greatest work is produced when our workspaces foster inspiration, well-being, and most importantly, fun! As a career educator and mother, I have become mindful of how the way we work influences the product of our work.

Our shop is a venue for functional study and wellness supply from aesthetically minded makers intended to elevate your space and inspire your best work from the classroom to the conference room and everywhere in between. Most importantly, profits from our shop help offset course tuitions and provide funds for program scholarships.

Additionally, we are delighted to give a portion of our monthly profits to two educational organizations: The Petey Greene Program and The Rockhouse Foundation. You can read more about these amazing organizations on our “Our Cause” page.
